Program: History of Beads

xxxxxxThose bodacious, beautiful, bad beads -- our ongoing attraction with bling! The non-boring history of beads from antiquity to the 21st Century, including fun facts, funnier forklore and quirky superstitions surrounding this fascinating medium. From the time mankind put a hole in an object, to the beaded and encrusted items of today, we've had a love affair with these rainbow bits. How best to apply these tiny jewels in today's works, including the Care and Feeding of them, what to avoid and what to pursue, plus tips and tricks Sherrill has learned from nearly 30 years of beading.

Showcase:
Sherrill brings a wide selection of beaded items, from clothing to jewelry and points in between to showcase the many ways to incorporate beads in style and function.

Trunk Show:
Seed beads, needles, thread, and related books on embroidery and embellishment.

Workshops:
A Workshop may be scheduled in conjunction with the Guild Program, if desired.

Program: Crazy Quilts

xxxxCrazy Quilts! The epitome of embellishment! A magpie's paradise! Sherrill presents miscellaneous minutia gathered on her 30-year journey through the world of crazy quilting. She gives an historic overview of this alternate form of quilting and its various methods of construction, from its birth as an economy measure, adding tidbits from its Victorian heyday, through the Depression, and fast-forward into the 21st Century.


Showcase:
Sherrill brings several 100-year old items, as well as current projects, and the fully embellished wallhangings, quilts, and other crazy-quilted items she has created in the last few years.

Trunk Show:
Fancy fabric packs, trims, ribbon, seed beads, needles, thread, related books on crazy quilting, etc.

Workshops:
